As mentioned late last week, sgwhisky will start a new segment from the month of May onwards entitled "Singapore Whisky Monthly". It will endeavour to showcase the upcoming Whisky events in Singapore every month, be it major events, new bars, new whiskies and tastings. This is all part of sgwhisky's aim to become the one-stop location to find out everything one needs to know about the Singapore Whisky scene!

The first event that sgwhisky is proud to highlight is Singapore's Premier Whisky event, Whisky Live 2011. Proudly organised by La Maison Du Whisky, Whisky Live 2011 is in its second year now, and will be held at One at the Bund at the Fullerton Bay Hotel this year on the 16th of May, Monday.

For those who are not familiar with Whisky Live, it is a Whisky tasting event that is held globally at numerous major cities around the world, including Paris, Madrid, Dublin, Tokyo and Los Angeles. The intent of these events is to expose those who attend to the unique and wonderful world of whisky. With numerous top companies participating in these events, people who attend can expect to be spoilt for choice in terms of whiskies! For this installment of Whisky Live, top distilleries like Nikka, Bunnahabhian, Glenlivet and Glendronach will be involved, promising a unique and unforgettable whisky tasting experience.

However, the whisky education at such events are not just limited to tasting, Whisky Live 2011 will also play host to numerous masterclasses, which will be held at 2pm, 4pm, 8pm and 930pm (although the event will only be opened to the public from 6pm onwards). Masterclasses are essentially educational classes that are led by brand ambassadors, and the topics range from how to nose whisky properly, differentiating the different ages of whiskies and identifying cask finishes. These classes are hugely beneficial for all those who want to learn more about whisky in a proper, yet entertaining and relaxed, setting. On a side note, sgwhisky was also informed that a master blender from Nikka will be attending Whisky Live 2011, but sadly he most probably will not be doing a masterclass as he is not fluent enough in English. Nevertheless, I am pretty sure that he will be able to impart great knowledge at the Nikka booth, where sgwhisky hopes there will be an interpreter!

Lastly, for those who are more keen on what other things this event has to offer aside from whisky, Whisky Live 2011 will also play host to Laurent Bernard, the boutique chocolatier based at Robertson Quay. With a wide array of lovely creations, including whisky infused chocolates, this would be a great way for one to discover how well chocolates and whisky go together, whether it be paired together, or mixed together into a confectionery. La Maison Du Whisky will also be using this event to showcase some other exclusive products that they have at their store through 2 Cocktail bars at the event. These bars will offer people the chance to try rums, tequila and other spirits from all over the world, including the first ever public tasting of AOC Premium rums from Guadalupe.

With such a vast lineup of events and showcases, Whisky Live 2011 Singapore is certainly an event worth looking out for. So what are you waiting for? Get yourself a ticket and join all the other whisky lovers of the world at The Fullerton Bay Hotel this 16th of May!
