Here is the long awaited write-up on the next of Singapore's whisky bars, Fine Spirits By La Maison Du Whisky. The brand name itself needs no introduction, it is one of the leading whisky retailers and distributors in the world. Originating from France, Fine Spirits is the only outlet of the La Maison chain outside of France, and is situated at a very popular dining area and night spot, Robertson Quay. 

Despite being in Singapore for a few years now, La Maison Du Whisky went through a major face lift and opened in February of 2011 with all new bar front to complement the retail space that it originally had. The result is a sleek and modern bar built in perfectly into a retail outlet:

Helmed by General Manager Jeremy Moreau, the retail section of La Maison Du Whisky boasts a selection of over 600 different whiskies from all over the world. Of these, it also has a few lovely gems that were bottled only for the La Maison Du Whisky chain and are available exclusively at their outlets. On top of that, it also has a wide selection of Calvados, Armagnac, Gin, Vodka and Tequila to suit other needs and tastes. In essence, La Maison Du Whisky can still lay claim to being the largest single retailer of whisky here in Singapore. 

Come Nightfall, the bar comes to life!

Come nightfall the retail shop turns into a bar. Led by the bar consultant Tron Young, Fine Spirits By La Maison Du Whisky offers a wide selection of over 160 whiskies by the glass, and the whole range of whiskies by the bottle. On top of that, the bar also serves a selection of beers, cocktails as well as other alcoholic beverages, but it is certainly the large array of whiskies by the glass that leads the show. There is also a selection of light bites like cold cuts and cheese as well as nuts, but it does not serve any proper food for meals. The seating though is limited, with only about 11 seats at the bar front, though there are plans for another 20 seats to be added outside. In addition to that, there is also a $15 cover charge that includes a free flow of mineral water (still and sparkling) as well as a plate of cheese and cold cuts of meat. 

All in all, Fine Spirits by La Maison Du Whisky is definitely one of the places to go to if you are a whisky lover. With the wide array of whiskies available at the bar and via retail, there is something for everyone, be it if you are buying a bottle to take home or as a gift, or if you want a quiet place to sit and have a good dram after a hard day's work!
